Upward Soccer honors Virginia Tech community
Contributed photo
More than 500 Upward Soccer players, parents and grand parents signed large condolence cards to VA Tech students in front of a recently installed VA Tech memorial garden on April 21. The cards included messages of sympathy, love and encouragement from the local Christian community. The cards were carried back to VA Tech by the eight returning students that are members of New Hanover Church.
The permanent memorial is located at the entrance to the fields just behind new Hanover Presbyterian Church at 10058 Chamberlayne Road in Mechanicsville. The community is invited to stop by anytime to see the memorial and pray for the families and friends of to the 32 Hokies killed on April 16. Visitors are encouraged to bring offerings of water for the flowers.
