Cassandra Lovelyn Eaton and Andrew Michael Shortt were married May 24, 2008 at 6:00 in the evening. The ceremony was held at Floyd Baptist Church in Floyd, Va. with Alan Janney officiating. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the social hall and a tent outside with a sit down dinner and dancing.

The bride is the daughter of Steve and Carlotta Eaton of Christiansburg, Va. She is the granddaughter of Charles and Mary Jo Eaton of Pinehurst, N.C. and Connie and Nina Browning of Floyd, Va. Cassandra is a rising senior at Radford University, majoring in Communications. She has an internship with Charlotte Magazine this summer.

The groom is the son of Mike and Kathy Shortt of Charlotte, N.C. He is the grandson of Wade and Kitty Shortt of Halifax, Va. and Bob and Mary Kay Murphy of Glen Allen, Va. Andy is a rising senior at Radford University, majoring in Information Systems. He is currently working as an intern with Vanguard in Charlotte, N.C. for the summer.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Maid of honor was the bride’s cousin, Amanda Thompson. Bridesmaids were friends of the bride, Leslie Plott, Laura Sekely, Ann Farley, Julia Bondurant, Caitlin McCue and Stephanie Ulan. Flower girl was Haley Patterson, family friend of the groom.

Best man was the groom’s friend, Jerry Riendeau. Groomsmen were the brother’s of the groom, Matt and Daniel Shortt, friend of the groom, Stafford Cramer, cousin of the bride, Ryan Browning, friends of the groom, Curtis Atkinson and Jake Corfield.

Greeters and Readers were Brittany Wright and Cortney Pattison, friends of the bride. Ushers were Henry Bodenstine and Cody Buchan, friends of the groom. Media Specialists were Matthew Browning and Christopher Thompson, cousins of the bride. Wedding Director was Martha Bower and the Organist was Angela Thompson, Aunt of the bride.

After the scripture readings, there was a picture slideshow, showing the growing years of the bride and groom before their exchanging of vows. The couple shared Communion together as a couple, had their rings blessed, placed on their fingers and then lit a Unity Candle. Amanda Thompson, accompanied Angela Thompson in the song, “It Feels Like Home”. The marriage of the couple was then declared and the couple was presented to the guests.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents, Mike and Kathy Shortt at the Farmhouse Restaurant in Christiansburg, Va.

After a honeymoon to Asheville, N.C. and the Biltmore Estate, the couple will spend their summer in Charlotte, N.C., before returning to Radford in the fall to finish their senior year at Radford University.
