Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Long of Yorktown, Va., take pleasure in announcing the engagement of their daughter, Erin Elizabeth, to Matthew Austin Michael of Hampton.

Erin is a graduate of Hampton Christian High School and Old Dominion University, where she received a B.S. degree and master’s degree in speech-language pathology.  She is currently employed as a speech pathologist at Sentara Careplex Hospital.

Matthew is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Michael, Jr. of Mechanicsville.  He is a graduate of Lee-Davis High School and Virginia Tech, where he received a B.S. degree in ocean engineering.  He is currently employed as a naval architect with Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding.

An April 17, 2010 wedding is planned in Hampton.
