The marriage of Miss Karen Louise McKittrick of Richmond, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom McKittrick of Mechanicsville to Mr. John Stephen Bolton, Jr. of Richmond, son of Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. Steve Bolton of Athens, AL, took place May 27, 2010 at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion in Walt Disney World, FL.
The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Dorothy Turner, the late Mr. John Turner and the late Mr. and Thomas McKittrick, Jr., all of Richmond.
The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Jeanette Sheffield and the late Mr. Isaac Sheffield of Carlisle, PA, and Mrs. Christine Bolton and the late Mr. James Bolton of Greenwood, SC.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents after arriving in Cinderella’s carriage with her parents and maid of honor. The Reverend Tim Herring officiated.
Miss Grinnell Gibson, best friend of the bride, was maid of honor. The flower girl, dressed as Snow White and carrying a magic wand of daisies, was Miss Lily Knudson, the groom’s niece.
Lieutenant Colonel Bolton was his son’s best man. Ushers were Michael McKittrick, brother of the bride, and Jeff Knudson, brother-in-law of the groom. The rings were presented in Cinderella’s glass slipper by her Major Domo after entering to a trumpet fanfare.
The bride’s dress and cathedral-length train were made of English lace over satin and hand-beaded with Swarovski crystals. She carried a bouquet of fuchsia roses.
The “Lady and the Tramp” - inspired rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom’s parents, was held at Italy Isola, at the Italy Pavilion in Epcot at Walt Disney World and concluded with Illuminations, Epcot’s nighttime show.
A bridal shower was held by the maid of honor and an afternoon tea at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, was hosted by the bride’s great-aunt, Catherine Knaub and cousins, Sandy Armstrong and Jean Hughes.
After the couple departed in Cinderella’s carriage with a bubble and confetti cannon send-off, the reception immediately followed the ceremony and was held at the Grand Floridian Resort in Walt Disney World.
The bride graduated from Randolph-Macon College and is employed as the Marketing Manager for GTECH Virginia.
The groom graduated from Clemson University and is the Senior Development Officer for Community Housing Partners.
The couple stayed in Walt Disney World for their honeymoon and now resides in Richmond, with their dog, Aggie.
