The marriage of Susan Ashley Owens, daughter of Carol and Charles Owens of Mechanicsville, to Matthew Ryan Hinshaw, son of Gary and Patsy Hinshaw of Chesterfield, took place August 4, 2007, at Bon Air United Methodist Church in Bon Air. The Rev. David Adkins officiated. A dinner/dance reception followed at Stonehenge Golf and Country Club.
The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the granddaughter of Mrs. Myrtle Owens, the late Mr. Robley Ownes, Mrs. Jean Farmer, and the late Mr. Thurman Farmer, all of St. Stephens Church, Va. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Helen Wallace, the late Mr. Norman Wallace, and the late Mr. Roland and Mrs. Clarice Hinshaw all of Greensboro, NC.
Miss Laurie Owens, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Whitney Wilson, Miss Christy Owens, Miss Lauren Richardson and Miss Jamie Heath. Miss Hailey Moore, cousin of the bride, was flower girl.
Mr. Gary Hinshaw served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Jeff Hinshaw, brother of the groom, Mr. Steven Jones, Mr. Matt Mantiply, Mr. Kyle Griffin, and Mr. Tyler Sinsabaugh. Mr. Hunter Edwards and Mr. Phil Nusbaum served as ushers. Mr. Jamie Anderson was ring bearer.
Susie graduated from Longwood University with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in special education. She is currently employed with Hanover County Public Schools. Matt also graduated from Longwood University with a degree in business marketing. He is currently employed with Carpenter Company
Following a honeymoon in Orlando, the couple resides in Mechanicsville, Virginia.
