Lloyd and Carolyn Tyler celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 23, 2007. The couple first met at a dance at Dabney’s Lake off of Walnut Grove Road. Lloyd graduated from Battlefield High and enlisted in the Navy, and Carol graduated from Washington Henry High and later from Smithdeal Massey School of Business. The couple were married in Richmond and settled in Mechanicsville.
After working independently in construction for awhile, Lloyd founded Mechanicsville Excavators in 1965, and he continues to own and operate the family business today, with Carol managing the bookkeeping and office functions. They have four children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of whom have remained “local”.
Loved ones held a celebration to honor this milestone and to thank them for providing the stability that has anchored the closely-knit family all these years.
