A joint effort between the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and the Henrico Division of Police led to the immediate capture of a suspect in a local bank robbery.
The suspect has been identified as Rufus L. Nuckols of the 15000 block of Scotchtown Road in the Montpelier area of Hanover County. He was charged with bank robbery, two counts of armed robbery, and two counts of use of a firearm.
Also arrested in a nearby vehicle was Victoria N. O’Bier of the 4800 block of Castlewood Road in Richmond. She was charged with accessory to each of these criminal offenses.
As of Thursday, the two were lodged in the Pamunkey Regional Jail without bond.
According to Lt. Michael J. Trice of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, a white male, yielding a handgun, approached tellers at the Union Bank & Trust at 6479 Mechanicsville Turnpike and demanding U.S. currency.
No injuries were reported in the robbery, which occurred around 4:45 p.m. last Wednesday.
“The successful and safe resolution of this case was a result of professional and exemplary work on behalf of bank personnel and the officers in the area,” said Trice.
