Sarajane M. Hakopian of the 17600 block of Beaverdam Road has been identified as the victim involved in Monday evening’s homicide.
Sgt. Chris R. Whitley of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office also said that investigators are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the official cause of death.
Brian S. Mallory, 42, of the 15100 block of Dunn Road in Hanover County, was arrested in Florida just before 1 a.m. today by the Jacksonville (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office for grand larceny of an automobile belonging to Hakopian. The vehicle had been reported stolen from her residence.
Mallory is being held at the Duval County Pretrial Detention Facility in Jacksonville without bond.

I haven’t seen SaraJane since our last Indiana family reunion, but I can still remember what an incredibly warm & friendly spirit she carried with her. She was a great woman who will be missed by many. Her beautiful life and tragic death will not soon be forgotten.

My heart goes out to SaraJane’s family and friends. What a horrific thing to do to such a beautiful person.
Why this “animal” was allowed to walk the streets is beyond me.
RIP dear SaraJane.

When I went into labor with my son three years ago, SaraJane drove my husband to the hospital and stayed with him all day and all night until my son was born. They stood watch all the rest of the night, watching my son through the window, because I was paranoid about him. Then, for the first six months or so, SaraJane came to my house every weekday to help care for my son and me while I recovered from the emergency C-section and caught up in work and life. She is a wonderful person. How can I ever have another child without her?

I am still in shock! I just saw SaraJane the other day! She truly is the most kind, helpful and loving person. I am so sorry for the family she leaves behind. How somebody could do this to her is beyond my understanding.

I am heartbroken. Sarajane was such an important person in my life. She was going to stand up with me at my wedding in May. I cannot imagine a world without her. I was named after her also. Such an important part of my life and many others. I cannot believe it.

As her sister and Blake have said she was a wonderful, loving & most giving person I know. If she could help she would and if she couldn’t she would find someone that could. She has been a blessing to many and will be forever missed. Until we meet again!

I can only echo the sentiments of her sister. SJ was the most giving person I’ve ever known. She always gave of herself without asking for anything in return. She’ll be mised by all who ever met her.

SaraJane is my sister, and she is brave, beautiful and an incredible gift to this world. Every life she touched is changed for the better. I’m devastated to say goodbye to her, but so incredibly grateful to have known, loved, and been loved by her.
