June Nolan has written all her life and loves it.

Her first published book, “In Reverse Time,” was launched on June 15 by Xlibris publishing and she said she is thrilled.

June describes “In Reverse Time” as a love story about two young people who grew up together, lost contact and then found each other in time to enter a shag dance contest in Virginia Beach.

Although the book touches on both of the main characters’ difficult childhoods, June insists that most of the novel is very upbeat.

The author set her book at the beach so she could include shag dancing in the novel.  This speaks to June’s joy in life.

Besides writing five other books—yet to be published—June cross-stitches, paints, reads, is a photographer, plays computer games and recently purchased a guitar that she plans to learn to play.

“I have more time now and I am always looking for something to do,” June said.

The 63-year-old has Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS), an allergic condition that has confined her to her home for much of the last four years.

She goes on short trips to take photographs but stays away from people because a perfume or detergent can cause her to have bad asthma attacks and nausea problems.

She’s had many tests and treatments, but the only thing that has worked is avoiding the causes of her condition.

When asked how she keeps so cheerful, June answered, “It wouldn’t do any good to complain.” Instead, she keeps herself busy with her many talents.

She painted the picture for the cover of her new book. “It was my first watercolor,” June said proudly.

June and her husband Larry Noland have a daughter and live in Mechanicsville where June grew up. She graduated from Lee Davis in the 1960s.

“In Reverse Time” will soon be available on Amazon and any book store can order the novel online, once accounts are set up.

June plans to donate one hard copy and one paperback to the Atlee Library.
