Hanover County’s new Emergency Communications Center was dedicated on Wednesday, Oct. 13, with, from left, Phil Heins, director of Emergency Communications; Maj. Allen Davidson of the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office; G. Ed Via III, chair, Hanover County Board of Supervisors; Steven Gompers, RCC (Radio Systems Consultant); Rodney Gentry, support division manager, Emergency Communications; and Deputy Chief Charles G. Carneal, Hanover County Fire/EMS; participating. Heins and his staff also offered tours of the facility. The new center was approved by county voters in a 2005 bond referendum.
