With a generous contribution by the Mechanicsville Rotary Club, the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office will be delivering Ukrop’s Thanksgiving meals to 16 senior citizens who have been “adopted” by patrol deputies as part of the Triad Adopt-a-Senior program.

The meals include turkey with all the fixings and dessert.

The dinners will be picked up at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at the Ukrop’s located on Bell Creek Road in Mechanicsville.

Deputies, armed with their meals, will then travel across the county to deliver their packages and share some fellowship with their “adopted” senior.

Those who are a part of the Adopt-a-Senior program are seniors who do not have family nearby and are in need of a little extra attention.

Deputies who adopt a senior check on their senior during their work week to ensure their welfare.
