Two area men are lodged in the Pamunkey Regional Jail this morning following an incident that occurred Tuesday afternoon at a Mechanicsville bank.

Antonio V. Gary, 47, of the 300 block of Washington Court in Highland Springs, and Marvin M. Clark, 44, of the 3000 block of Emporia Street in Richmond, have been charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. They are being held at the regional jail while awaiting arraignment.

“This quick apprehension was attributed to accurate witness information, quick response by our deputies, and outstanding cooperation on behalf of Henrico Police,” said Col. V. Stuart Cook, sheriff of Hanover County.

Capt. Michael J. Trice of the Sheriff’s Office reported on Tuesday that deputies responded to the Wachovia Bank at 7085 Mechanicsville Turnpike at 1:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a robbery.

In a statement he released just before 6 p.m. Tuesday, Trice said officers determined that a black male entered the bank and used threatening language while demanding U.S. currency.

He also said that information collected at the scene was quickly dispatched to surrounding units and area jurisdictions.

Based on that information, Henrico Police stopped a vehicle and ultimately detained two individuals.
