Three arrested in school vandalism

The Hanover Sheriff’s Office announced Monday it had arrested three persons on vandalism charges for damage to Hanover High School and Oak Knoll Middle School last week.
All three are current or former Hanover High students.
Cyle Moore, 18, Chase Scott, 19, and a 15-year-old juvenile were charged with one count each of vandalism, a felony, and one count each of trespassing on school property.
They are accused of using spray paint and an all-terrain vehicle to cause thousands of dollars in damage to the two schools on U.S. 301 the night of Oct.… Read more...

Drugs stolen from Mechanicsville pharmacy

A man with a handgun robbed the Rite Aid Drugstore at 7019 Mechanicsville Turnpike last Wednesday of an undisclosed amount of Oxycontin.
Hanover Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Chris Whitley said the man entered the store in the Hanover Village shopping center and spoke with the pharmacist.
He then jumped over the counter and pulled back his suit jacket to display a handgun and demanded Oxycontin.
The pharmacist complied, giving the suspect an undisclosed amount of the drug.
The suspect was last seen walking toward Lee-Davis Road.

Sheriff’s Office seeks help in handgun theft

The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the community’s assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a larceny of a handgun from Green Top Sporting Goods.
On July 30 at approximately 8:15 p.m., an unknown male entered the Green Top Sporting Goods store located at 10193 Washington Highway and stole a .45 caliber Glock handgun.  No one was injured in this incident.

Handgun stolen from Hanover gunshop

Henrico man charged with trying to photograph girls

A Henrico man has been charged with attempting to take pornographic pictures of children while volunteering at a local church. And it’s not the first time his family’s name has been connected with such crimes.
Joshua P. Rinehults, 26, was served with multiple indictments by the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office Thursday, July 19 after an on-going investigation into his activities.
Rinehults, who now resides in the 7000 block of Wheeler Road, allegedly tried to take inappropriate pictures of children while volunteering at Fairmount Christian… Read more...

Former employee nabbed while slashing tires at car dealership

A Richmond man who formerly worked at Victory Nissan in Mechanicsville was caught vandalizing vehicles last week.
William Jay Cohen, 49, of the 3400 block of Stuart Drive in Richmond is charged with two counts of grand larceny and on misdemeanor property damages. He’s currently being held at Pamunkey Regional Jail on a $4,000 bond.
A vandal cut 34 tires on 31 vehicles at some point during the night on Sunday, July 1 and authorities were called to the 6500 block of Mechanicsville Turnpike at approximately 8:30 a.m. the next day.

Chase covers two counties

A 38-year-old Henrico man was arrested after an early morning chase that began in Mechanicsville last Thursday morning.
Sylvester Turner Jr., of the 900 block of Ironington Road, was the subject of a pursuit that began at the Holiday Inn Express in Mechanicsville, where Hanover Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a robbery at 6:30 a.m.
Deputies gave chase, but lost sight of the suspect until they heard a woman screaming in the parking lot of the Mechanicsville Wal-Mart. A 19-year-old woman told deputies he attempted to get her to drive him… Read more...

16 arrested after party

Hanover Sheriff’s deputies arrested 16 people last week, in the latest large-scale underage drinking incident in the county.
Thirteen persons were arrested for underage possession of alcohol in the morning of June 20 at a large outdoor party in the 7400 block of Lexington Drive in Mechanicsville.
Another was arrested for being drunk in public, one for possession of a controlled substance and one for carrying a concealed weapon.Spokesperson Sgt. Mike Trice said the weapon was a set of brass knuckles.
