Kings Dominion in Doswell will light up the night with later park hours and attractions, including Fireworks, Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular and nighttime flyovers on WindSeeker, one of its newest attractions.
On Saturday, April 28, Kings Dominion will be open until 10 p.m. As soon as dusk falls, more than 1 million LED lights will turn on for Snoopy’s Starlight Spectacular. Guests at the park will experience a nighttime walk-through light and sound spectacular featuring Snoopy and the Peanuts™ gang. The event will take place along the center walkway between the Eiffel Tower and the park’s Carousel attraction.
The Hanover County Sheriff’s Office needs assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be responsible for stealing a gold Dolce & Gabanna purse.
According to Sgt. Chris R. Whitley, the theft took place the evening of March 24 at a local business in the 7300 block of Bell Creek Road in Mechanicsville.
The suspect can be seen in two surveillance photos, which were recovered during the course of the investigation.
After the theft, Whitley said it is believed that the suspect hid the purse in a silver four-door vehicle, which was parked in the same parking lot of the business where the theft occurred.

A fundraiser featuring a yard sale, hair donation station and face painting will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at All American Gymnastics at 10406 Lakeridge Parkway (in the Crescent Building Center) in Ashland for Ashton Blunt, a former gymnast at All American Gymnastics.
All proceeds will be used for a custom-made hairpiece and medical bills.

Several local natural resources organizations are co-sponsoring a “Woods in Your Backyard” landowner seminar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the Montpelier Community Center at 17203 Sycamore Lane in Montpelier.

After 10 years of community service, the Hanover Career Student Resource (HCSR) has touched thousands of lives and formed a lasting relationship between the county’s business community, government and the public school system.
Last Tuesday, the group celebrated with a luncheon at the Hanover Center for Trades and Technology. Secretary of Commerce and Trade James Cheng provided the keynote address at this year’s annual event.
Guests were treated to a buffet lunch provided by students at the school, many of whom might well turn to HCSR for job search assistance once they finish courses at the tech center.
