Richard D. Carter, 65, of Mechanicsville, died Monday, December 24, 2007. He was employed by Baker Equipment for 30 years. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Keith Broyles and Karen and David Goins, all of Mechanicsville; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Isbell and Margie Werner. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Graveside services followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Elwood “Woody” B. Gibson Jr., age 62, of Mechanicsville, went home to be with our Lord on December 22, 2007.  He was preceded in death by his father Elwood B. Gibson Sr.  He is survived by his wife of 42 years Barbara Gibson, his mother; Margaret Gibson, sons; Robert Scott Gibson and his wife Connie, and Timothy Ryan Gibson and his wife Brenda, grandchildren Alexis Nicole Gibson, Nathaniel Scott Gibson, sister; Linda Everett, nieces and nephews.  Woody was a past employee of Greenbrier Farms in Chesapeake Va., and G.L. Pruitt in Richmond Va.  He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Chesapeake Va., and Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Beaver Dam Va.  The family received friends Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rt. 301 & Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville Va. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 28, 2007 at Sturtevant Funeral Home, 5201 Portsmouth Va 23701. Graveside services held at Green Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake Va.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.

Marian W. Gregory, 82, of Richmond, died Wednesday, December 19, 2007. She was a widow of Richard. D. Gregory and was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and J. C. Nunnally of Richmond; son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Beverlie Gregory of Nags Head, N.C.; grandchildren, Heather (Tim), Buffkin, Jamie (Lindsey) Nunnally, Greg (Laurie) Owens, Spencer (Sarah) Gregory, Barrett Gregory; two great-grandchildren, Jackson Gregory, Alexis Owens; nephew, Gene Woodfin and wife, Eve. Family received friends Thursday, December 20, 2007, at the Mechanicsville Chapel Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Graveside services were held Friday, December 21, 2007, at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to New Bridge Baptist Church Building Fund.

Bruce Oral Harvill, 63, of Sandston, formerly of New Bern, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 21, 2007. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ellen Gail Pope Harvill. He is survived by his daughter, Sharla Lynn Pence and her husband, Duncan; son, Steven Glenn Harvill and his wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Taylor and Christopher; sisters, Wanda Williams, Faye Hodges and Naomi Royal; brothers, Donald and Raymond Harvill; and a host of loving family. Mr. Harvill was a retiree of U.S. Airways. His memorial service was held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Bennett Funeral Home, Lee-Davis Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Barbara Sheetz Haulsee, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2007 after a brief illness. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Charlie Haulsee; a daughter, Donna Archer and husband, Mark, of Disputanta; three grandchildren, Shannon, Ben and Mark Jr.; mother-in-law, Ann Haulsee of Marion; five nieces, three nephews; and beloved dog, Maggie. The family received friends Saturday December 22, 2007, at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville. Funeral services were held Sunday December 23, 2007 at the Black Creek Baptist Church. Graveside services held at the church cemetery. Barbara was a retiree from the Hanover County Government and a volunteer at Memorial Regional, and was dearly loved by all who knew her. A special thanks to the Henrico Doctors’ Hospital Forest Campus N.V.I.C.U. staff for their loving care, kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Black Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 6289 McClellan Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.

Anita Faye Plush, 52, departed this life on December 22, 2007.  Preceded in death by her father, the late Bob Marshall, and her husband, the late James Plush; Loving daughter of Doris Malena, of Portland, OR and Wanda Marshall, of Yuma, AZ; mother of Michelle Anderton, of Richmond and David Eric Anderton, and his fiance Brandon Leonard, of San Francisco, and her dog, Gracie Plush; sister of Ann Phillips (Bill), of Portland, OR and David Marshall (Wendy); Services were held at the Metropolitan Community Church, 2501 Park Ave, Richmond Saturday, December 29, 2007. Graveside services followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Richmond SPCA, 2519 Hermitage Rd Richmond VA 23220.

Earl F. Viers, 87, of Richmond, died Friday, December 21, 2007. He was a member of Chamberlayne Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Pearl “June” Viers; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Ginger Viers of Mechanicsville; two grandchildren, Kevin (Pamela) Viers of Glen Allen and Tracie (Travis) Loving of Mechanicsville; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Nicholas Viers, Mitchell and Katelynn Loving. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer. Services were held Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., Graveside services followed in Hanover Memorial Park.
