Daniel Stephen Brittle, age 21, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord Jan. 6, 2008. He is survived by his parents Mark Brittle and Joyce Allen; siblings Stephanie Marshall and her husband David, Ashley Castro-Galvez, Cassandra Sink, Jonathan Hibbs, fiancé; Elizabeth Dolt, eight grandparents, one great grandparent, six aunts and uncles, nine cousins, and one nephew Jacob Marshall. The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rt. 301 & Shady Grove Road. Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Dorothy Emma Burcham, 89, of Covenant Woods, formerly of Highland Springs, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. She was the daughter of the late William and Emma Burcham and was a member of Highland Springs United Methodist Church. Surviving are nephews, Victor W. Burcham II and Douglas C. Burcham, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Phillip C. Burcham and his wife, Margaret G. Burcham, of Richmond; niece, Claire B. Searl and her husband, Fred Searl, of Roanoke, and their daughter, Kathleen. Services were held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at Covenant Woods. Memorials may be made to Covenant Woods, 7090 Covenant Woods Dr., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111. Graveside services were held in Portsmouth, Va.
George Robert “Buck” Edwards, 81, of Richmond, died Jan. 5, 2008. He was born in Upperville, Va., to Wayland and Carrie (Hall) Edwards. He married Opal V. Robinson of Belleville, Ill., and served four years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired from Edison Brothers Shoe Company as an Assistant Vice President after 38 years. After retirement, he found joy as a courtesy clerk at Ukrops. In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, he is survived by his son, George M. Edwards of Colorado; his daughter, Karla Willemin, wife of Jeffrey Willemin of Mechanicsville; his grandchildren, Jared Willemin and his wife, Denise, of Kansas City, Mo., Rachel Willemin of Richmond, and Kyle Willemin of Mechanicsville; his brother, John Edwards and his wife, Ann, of Hagerstown, Md.; two sisters, Martha May and her husband, Nelson, and Rebecca Johnson, both of Frederick, Md. The family received friends Monday, Jan. 7, 2008 at Bliley’s - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd., where funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008. Graveside services were held at Signal Hill Memorial Park. The loves of his life were God, his family and the Boston Red Sox.
James W. “Dickie” Roach, 70, of Mechanicsville, owner of Roach’s Auto Service, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Denise Roach; his children, Angela, James R., William D., Ricky, Elizabeth, Thomas, Matthew and Jonathan; grandchildren, Donald Ray, Candice, Kristina and Melody; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kaleb, Landon, and Ryliegh; and sister, Susie Seymore. The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008 at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 11, 2008. Graveside services private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Children’s Hospital of Richmond, 2974 Brook Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220.
