Elizabeth B. Foster, 99, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Richmond and Louisa County, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 23, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Foster; son, William A. “Red” Foster; grandchildren, Luanne and David Hall; and one great-grandson, Daniel Hall. Lizzie is survived by one son, Tom Foster (Gigi) of Mechanicsville; four daughters, Ruby Sebrell (Tom) of Staunton, Betty West and Mary Minor (Bob), both of Richmond, and Margaret Hall of Beaverdam; one brother, Jessie H. Bentley, also of Mechanicsville; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Pine Street Baptist Church, serving for many years as a nursery worker, and was a member of the Home League of the Salvation Army. The family received friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where the family received friends from Thursday, Feb. 19,  2009 and where services were held Friday, Feb. 27, 2009. Laura Helen Henley, 88, of Glen Allen, passed away Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Mason Henley. She is survived by five children, Winfree Henley (Betty), Aubrey Henley Sr. (Karen), Marian Marshall (Will), Gayle Enos (Bill), Jackie Chandler (Bill); six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Stella Peregoy and Pearl Hicks; and numerous nieces and nephews; also a very special friend, Bonnie King. The family received friends Sunday, March 1, 2009 and Monday, March 2, 2009 at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 West Broad St. A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Berea Baptist Church. Vicki Frame Loving, 60, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009. She was preceded in death by her son, Welford “Allen” Loving Jr.; and her father, Glyde Frame. She is survived by her devoted husband, Welford A. Loving Sr.; mother, Shirley Frame; brother, Elben Frame and wife, Frankie; granddaughters, Amanda Loving and Lindsay Rattelsdorfer; and grandson, Chase Loving. Mrs. Elizabeth Mason Naylor, 75, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 at Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2009 at South Elm Street Baptist Church. Graveside services followed follow at Spring Branch Baptist Church in Dunn, N.C. Mrs. Naylor was born on Oct. 19, 1933 in Harnett County. She was an active member of South Elm Street Baptist Church and member of the Samaritan’s class.  She was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia and Tabernacle Baptist Church in Greensboro.  Elizabeth loved gardening and planting trees. She loved her family dearly and was very proud of her children and friends. She was preceded in death by parents, Harvey and Bertha Porter Mason; husband, Ralph A. Naylor; sister, Violet Hobbs; brothers, Lloyd Mason and Jack Mason. Mary D. Pasedag, 73, of Richmond, passed away Friday, Feb. 20, 2009. She is survived by a brother, Robert E. Annie Mae Randolph, 88, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Randolph. Alma Scott Ratcliffe, 84, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis W. “Scotty” Scott; two sisters, Myra Gaines and Joyce Wright; and one brother, Hugh Barnes. She is survived by her children, Gale Kulp and her husband, Lamar, of Mechanicsville, Sandra Fryer and her husband, Dean, of Toano, and Francis W. Scott Jr.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Alma was a retired employee of Anthem (Blue Cross), and a member of Sandston Baptist Church.

Evelyn Marshall Scott, Feb. 7, 1927-Feb. 26, 2009.  Evelyn went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009.  She was preceded in heaven by her husband of 51 years, Chesleigh Walter Scott, Jr.. She will forever be remembered by her loving children, daughter, Janice S. Goodman, and son in law, James L. Goodman, Sr., son, Raymond Earl Scott, and daughter in law, Marie J. Scott, and daughter Pamela S. Salgado, and son in law Jose M. Salgado, all of Mechanicsville. She will be dearly missed by her five beloved granchildren, spouses, and seven great grandchildren, granddaughter Michele Goodman Seibert and husband H. Alan Seibert, their sons, Chad 11, Logan 7, and Tyler 5 of Salem, Va, grandson, James L. Goodman, Jr., and wife Christy Goodman, and their two daughters Aliza 4, and Elise 3 months of Mechanicsville, granddaughter Julie Scott Benware and husband, Wade Benware of King William, granddaughter Angie Goodman Spruill, her husband Todd Spruill and their son, Dylan 4 and daughter Taylor 2, of Mechanicsville, and granddaughter Maria Salgado 12, daughter of Pam and Jose Salgado, of Mechanicsville.  She is survived by her two sisters, Margie Trent and Ethel Osterbind.  She will be remembered by all who knew her for her endless generosity and kindness to others.  Friends and family visited at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, Route 301 and Shady Grove Road, Mechanicsville, Sunday, March 1, 2009. Howard L. “Pa Pa” Spicer, 69, of Glen Allen, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.B. and Virginia Spicer; and his brother, Bobby Spicer. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary J. Spicer; and his children, Pam Maxwell and her husband, Shawn, and Kelli Spicer; one brother, G.T. Spicer; his sister, Linda Smith; three grandchildren, Derrick, Tyler and Macie Maxwell; his special kids at Hunton Baptist Church; and a special aunt, Elizabeth Waldron. Michael Keith Toombs, 53, of Hanover, died on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009. He is survived by his sister, Sandra West and her husband, Keith; two brothers, Dean Toombs and Bill Toombs and his wife, Becky. Otha B. Vial Jr., 75, of Glen Allen, passed away at home on Feb. 20, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.B. and Ida Vial; son, Gregory Lynn Vial; and nephew, John B. Vial. He retired from the grocery business having worked at A&P, Superfresh and Food Lion. Ella Ruth Walton, 70, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009 after a long courageous battle with her illness. She was the devoted wife of William Oscar Walton Sr.; loving mother of Kimberly Ruth Walton, Robin Walton Rozell and her husband, Donald, Bill Walton and his wife, Laurie and Cheryl Thomas Walton; beloved grandmother of Justine Walton, Trey Walton and Jordan Rozell; sister of Elden McKinnon and his wife, Maidie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ollie Mae Davis; and her stepmother, Opal Davis. Louise Painter Warren, of King William, passed away Feb. 19, 2009. She is survived by a daughter, Gail Weymouth and husband, Garland; a son, Robert W. Warren; two granddaughters, Erin and Emma Louise Weymouth; two sisters, Lucille P. Hoffman and husband, Frank, and Ruth P. Jessie; four nieces and nephews. Lloyd Maurice White Sr., 58, of Mechanicsville, departed this life on Feb. 21, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stape and Margaret White. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Linda P. White; daughter, Yulonda Thornton (James); son, Lloyd White Jr.; six grandchildren; five brothers, Linwood, Marvin Sr. (Brenda), Barry, Allen and Julian White; mother-in-law, Louise Pleasant; four sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law; a devoted cousin, Oliver Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
