Amanda Christine Brady, “Brady”, age 25, of Glen Allen, died suddenly Monday, July 5, 2010. Amanda was born Sept. 4, 1984 in Manassas, Va., and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Glen Allen. Survivors include her parents, Lawrence and Christine Brady of Gainesville, Va.; two sisters, Nicole Brady and Kimberly Brady, both of Gainesville, Va.; one brother, Kyle Brady of Gainesville, Va.; her fiancé, Patrick Nixon of Glen Allen; maternal grandmother, Halina Kurpiel of Florida; paternal grandmother, Florence Brady of Pottstown, Pa.; and loved by all her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Willie B. Cole, 89, of Glen Allen, passed away July 4, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Kersey Cole. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, Carroll Palmore, Floyd Palmore, Cheryl Hoffman, Monty Cole, Lonnie Cole, and Vicky Cole; sister-in-law, Elsie Cole; and many other family members. Willie retired from American Tobacco Company and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. The family received friends Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Bliley’s - Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Rd. Cheryl Mallory Dennier, 63, of Mechanicsville, went to be with Jesus Christ on July 7, 2010. She was born in Richmond, to Alston Cabell Mallory and Ruby Behymer Mallory. She attended Madison College (now James Madison University) where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1969. While at Madison, Mrs. Dennier served as a Senior class officer, was a Senior Attendant on the May Court, and a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. After graduation from Madison, Mrs. Dennier began a long-tenured career with Scott & Stringfellow, Inc., where she was employed for almost 40 years. Mrs. Dennier began as the Administrative Assistant to the firm’s Chairman, S. Buford Scott, and rose to the position of Vice President of the firm by the time she retired in 2009. Mrs. Dennier was involved in several ways in the greater Richmond community. She was a member of the Matoaca Junior Women’s Club and chaired the National Tobacco Festival Grand Ball. Mrs. Dennier and her family have attended Walnut Grove Baptist Church for several decades where she served faithfully for many years in a variety of leadership roles. She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, David R. Dennier; daughter, Blaire Dennier Ruch, son-in-law, Hunter Ruch, and their children, Courtlyn Mallory, Kiefer Alston, and Everett Hunter; daughter, Lindsey Cabell Collins, and son-in-law, Michael Sean Collins. The family received friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., on Sunday, July 11, 2010. Services were held at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville on Monday, July 12, 2010. Serafin Gonzalez Diaz, 90, of Mechanicsville, born and raised in Rincon, Puerto Rico, died June 26, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ibis A. Diaz; his son, Guy Diaz (Alexandria); two daughters, Lucy Hill (John) and Yvette Ford (Steven); four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Mr. Diaz was a WWII Army veteran. Services were private. Dominick John Esposito, “Nick”, 84, of Glen Allen, died Saturday, July 3, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luigi and Elisa Esposito; brothers, George and Salvatore Esposito; and his beloved son, Lewis Esposito. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy Esposito; his daughter, Georgia Esposito; stepdaughters, Lee Ann Orefice, Dee Ann Simon, Nancy H. Brown, Suzanne B. Hubbard; special niece and nephew, Elisa Persinger and Dominick Esposito and six grandchildren. At the age of 16, Nick joined the Navy. Upon the discovery of his true age, he was promptly sent home on a bus from California. At the age of 18, he joined the Army and fought in Okinawa, where he received a Purple Heart. He later reenlisted and served two more years in Japan as part of the Occupation Force. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Upon Nick’s return from service, he enrolled in the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law using his G.I. Bill and graduated in 1953. His first job was with the Honorable Judge Robert R. Merhige Jr. who was also his mentor. He loved practicing law and retired at the age of 70. Nick was a true outdoorsman who loved to go fresh and salt water fishing, golfing and duck hunting with his longtime friend, Ivy Bradly. Perhaps one of the proudest moments in Nick’s life took place in St. Louis, Mo. in 1982 when his beloved Labrador Retriever, Westwind Supernova Chief, a field champion and amateur field champion, won the title of “National Field Trial Champion” over 90 other participants. The family extends special thanks for their love and care to Dr. Martin Starkman and staff; caregiver, Kevin Hayes and Donna Bourne and the staff at Westport Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. A Memorial Mass took place Saturday, July 10, 2010 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Road. Marnelle Wade Gagnon, 94, of Mechanicsville, passed away July 8, 2010. She was the widow of the late Robert J Gagnon and the daughter of the late Everett G Wade, Sr. and Addie B. Wade of Ellerson, VA. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Arline W. Winn and Annie W. Bricker. Marnelle is survived by brother E Granville Wade Jr., by son William W. Gagnon of Mechanicsville, daughter Margaret Gagnon Norfleet (Larry) of Chesapeake, a granddaughter Sheryl Marnelle Arzuaga (Alfred) of Mechanicsville, a grandson Kevin Alexander Norfleet of Richmond, two great-grandsons, Alexis Luis and Vincent Wade Arzuaga. Marnelle had a long and productive life with lots of living and fun all along the way. She loved to travel and visited 19 different countries and 48 states. She was an active member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church since 1924. There was a Memorial Service at Shady Grove United Methodist Church on July 10, 2010. Virginia Leigh Johnson, 70, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord at 12:10 p.m. on July 5, 2010. Clara Elizabeth Lettiere, 84, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Toms River, N.J., died Monday, May 31, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Rocco Lettiere; and daughter, Deborah Jochem. Ellen Elizabeth McDougle, 67, of Mechanicsville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Florence Wood; and a brother, Thomas L. Harris. She was a school bus driver with Hanover County Schools for 27 years. Surviving are her sons, Scott and wife, Kim, Steve and wife, Beverly, SPC Justin (active duty U.S. Army) and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Ashley, Shelby, Haley, Jacob, Evan, Jessica, Connor and Camden; sisters, Erma Traylor, Lena Whiteside, Ruth Traylor and Ethel Wyndham; and many nieces and nephews. Audrey Lane Miller, of Mechanicsville, passed away at home on July 6, 2010 after a long battle with ALS. She is survived by her husband, Albert Miller; one son, Lee Miller and his wife, Pam, of Sandston, Va.; two sisters, Lois Jennings and her husband, Bradley, of Hertford, N.C., and Brenda Markham and husband, Marion Gill, of Weeksville, N.C. June Moran, 92, of Mechanicsville, died suddenly Thursday, July 1, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Moran. Mrs. Moran retired from Miller and Rhoads and was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. John Brennan Williams Sr., 85, of Mechanicsville, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010. He was the son of the late William Joseph Sr. and Mamie Schardt Williams. He was preceded in death by five brothers, William “Bubba” Joseph Williams Jr., Lewis “Budha” E. Williams, Charles “Pat” Q. Williams, Karl “Coney” L. Williams and Bert A. Williams; and a sister, Helen “Sissie” W. Bahen. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret Williams; a son, John “Bren” B. Williams Jr. (Beth); a daughter, Valerie Denton (Ken); three grandchildren, Kendall Denton, Andrew Williams and Corbin Williams, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Anne Bond; and a brother, Ray “Pete” R. Williams and wife, Betty. He was a retired battalion chief for the city of Richmond Fire Department and served in the Army during WWII. Mary Woodson, 100, of Glen Allen, peacefully slipped into eternal rest on July 6, 2010 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur Robinson; and her husband, James Woodson; two daughters, Mildred Spindle and Clara Woodson; one son, Douglas Robinson; five sisters, Sue Lewis, Ruth Jackson, Carrie Thompson, Elizabeth Branch and Lucille White; one brother, James Derricott. Mary’s passion in life was time devoted to her family.
