Samuel Harold Fletcher, 95, of the Old Church area in Mechanicsville, VA died on October 26, 2007. Mr. Fletcher was born in Crockett Mills, TN and spent his youth growing up in Covington, TN. He was a graduate engineer from Tri-State College and spent his working career with Vepco (now Dominion Resources). Following his retirement in 1977 as VP of Personnel, he spent much of his time tending to his woodworking and gardening hobbies. He was married to Helen Irene McHugh in 1940 and they spent their lives together in Virginia. He is survived by his son, Kim Fletcher and daughter-in-law Sandra Fletcher of Marietta, GA; grandson Mike Fletcher; granddaughter-in-law Beth Fletcher; and great-granddaughters Samantha and Katie Fletcher of Dacula, GA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsville, VA where Mr. Fletcher was a long-time active member. The family requests that a contribution to the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church be considered in lieu of flowers.
Dessie M. Perry, age 90, of Midlothian, went to be with the Lord November 2, 2007. She was preceded in death by her first husband Arch E. Gum and second husband George Lee Perry, two daughters; Anna R. Nucklos, Betty Jo Talley and brother; Robert Hinkle. She is survived by her daughter; Sherrie Dalton and husband Terry, son; Danny Lee Perry and wife Mary Lou, grandchildren; Donna N. Kidder and husband Buddy, Ronald E. Talley Jr., Kimberly P. Graves and husband Dave, Robin N. Ramsey and husband Robert, Carolyn T. Ball and husband Michael, Dana L. Perry, J. Todd Tagnesi and wife Tracy, Shannon T. Snider and husband Greg, Danielle P. Miller and husband Adam, Danny Lee Perry Jr. and wife Ginger. She is also survived by great grandchildren; Matthew J. and Hannah Kidder, Tiffany A. and Courtney Talley, Whitney Brookman, Ashley and Jacob Short, Dell, Doran and Grace Ramsey, Lauren and Lindsey Ball, Cole and Talley Snider, Jacob and Justin Tagnesi, Abigail and Molly Graves, Nevaeh and Danny Perry, Ivy and Willow Miller. Dessie was a dedicated member of Advent Christian Church. The family received friends on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the Huguenot Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian. Funeral services were held on Monday, November 5, 2007, at the funeral home. Graveside services were held at Dale Memorial Park. Cora H. Pickett, 74, of Mechanicsville, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd F. Pickett; her children, L. Steven Pickett and wife, Diane, Kathryn P. McGuire and husband, Bob, and Paul S. Pickett and wife, Lynn; her grandchildren, Alexander and McKenzie, Matt and Steph, Tiffany, Blaire, and Tristan; a sister, Vivian Carawan. The family received friends Wednesday October 31 and Thursday November 1 at the Mechanicsville chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Funeral services were held Friday, November 2, at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2446 Old Church Rd., Mechanicsville. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritans Purse or to a charity of your choice.
Carl Evan Scheele, 24, of Mechanicsville, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Alan Scheele. He is survived by his mother, Mary D. Scheele; and sister, Alice L. Scheele; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family received friends Saturday, November 3, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, where services were held Sunday. November 4, 2007. Graveside services private.
