Warren A. Dike, born August 20, 1923, passed away Friday, November 2, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Denzler Dike; and his parents, Warren W. and Gladys Brown Dike. He is survived by his son, Wade E. Dike and wife, Sandra; brother, Russel P. Dike and wife, Betty; sister, Margie Robinette and husband, Nolan; niece, Gayla Breedlove; nephew, Gary Robinette; and his dear friends, Betty Herring, Pat Owens, Gail Mundy, and John Hart. He was a member of American Legion Post # 175 and VFW Post #9808, member of Strict Observance Lodge # 207 AF and AM, now Westhampton Lodge # 302 AF and AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies and York Rite Bodies, a honorary member of Corbin Pond, member of the Red Bird Club, and he was an avid hunter. The family received friends Wednesday, November 7, at the Mechanicsville Chapel Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, where funeral services will be held Thursday, November 8. Graveside services were held at Quantico National Cemetery. A Masonic memorial service was held Wednesday, November 7 at the funeral home.
Phyllis McNutt Hingley, 81, departed this life November 5, 2007. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Albert P. Hingley, on February 12, 2007; and by four siblings and her parents. Survivors include sons, James (Debra) Hingley of Glen Allen, Va., Paul Hingley of Richmond, Va., Brian (Audrey) Hingley of Mechanicsville, Va. and Scott (Kathi) Hingley of Shipman, Va.; sister, Ella Mullan of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; brothers, Ken McNutt of Binghampton, N.Y., Eric McNutt of Woodstock, Ontario, Canada and Donald McNutt of St. Catherine, Ontario, Canada; grandchildren, Shannon Hingley of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Brandon Hingley of Richmond, Va., Sean (Erin) Hingley of Chesapeake, Va., Daniel Hingley of VMI, Lexington, Va., Albert Scott Hingley of Madrid, Spain and Robert (Johnsie) Hingley of Raleigh, N.C. Phyllis was retired from Royal Globe Insurance and was a licensed realtor with Louise Williams Real Estate. Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Canada, Phyllis was a naturalized U.S. citizen. Her bright smile, sweet spirit and quick wit will be greatly missed. Family received friends at the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road, Mechanicsville, Va., Saturday, November 10, followed by a memorial service celebrating Phyllis’ life. “For we know that if the tent which is our earthly home is dissolved, we have from God a building, a house not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens.” (2 Corinthians 5:1)
George Bowden Loving, a resident of Covenant Woods, Mechanicsville, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Elizabeth Ricker Loving. He is survived by his three sons, Francis Leonard (Len) Loving (Suzanne) of Jacksonville, Fla., James (Jim) B. Loving (Carolyn) and Kenneth R. Loving (Adrienne); daughter, Margaret (Peggy) T. Hoover (Robert); 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Norma L. Sieg of San Diego, Calif. George was born in Richmond, one of nine children, born to the late George and Blanche Jeter Loving. He retired from Miller Morton (Sargeants Dogcare Products) after 23 years of service. The family received friends Monday at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where funeral services were held Tuesday, November 13, 2007. A committal service was held in Westhampton Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity
Woodrow “Woody” Taylor Jr., of Tappahannock, passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; children, Michael (Sandra), Julie (Chris); stepchildren, Chip (Bonnie), Shari (Dale) and Robin (Thomas); also seven grandchildren; father, Woodrow Taylor Sr. (Mildred); sister, Sandra. The family received friends Tuesday, November 6 at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services were also held. Graveside services private.
