Fanny Kennedy Denton, 92, of Richmond, went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 19, 2007. She is survived by her husband, Willie Ervin Denton; sons, Billy James Denton and John Kennedy Denton; daughters, June Denton Williams and Diane Denton Clarke; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The family received friends Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where funeral services were held Wednesday, November 21. Graveside services followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Robert S. Jones, 87, of Mechanicsville, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie G. “Becky” Jones; and is survived by three daughters, Thelma J. Reid, Linda J. Kocsis and Anne J. Blake; four granddaughters, three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lou Borkey and Lillian Jones. Robert was a WWII Army veteran and a member of New Bethesda Baptist Church. Family received friends on Friday November 23, 2007 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24, 2007 at New Bethesda Baptist Church, with graveside services following in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice, 8580 Magellan Pkwy., Building IV, Richmond, Va. 23227 or New Bethesda Baptist Church, 9019 New Bethesda Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. 23111.
William “Bill” Samuel Martin, of Aylett, passed away suddenly Sunday, November 18, 2007. He was preceded in death by his son, William Samuel Martin Jr. He is survived by his wife, Grace S. Martin; daughter, Cynthia Martin-Futrell and husband, Robert; three sons, Chris Martin and wife, Diane, Drew Martin and wife, Michele, all of Aylett, and Paul Martin of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren, Brad, Matthew, Rachel, Mary, Samantha, and Noah; two sisters, Hallie M. Smith of Mattaponi, Va. and Frances M. Parker of Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Martin was a retired employee of Southern States Cooperative, Richmond, Va., and a lifelong resident of King William County. The family received friends Tuesday, November 20 at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. Graveside services were held Wednesday, November 21 at Beulah Baptist Church, 4805 West River Rd., Aylett, Va.

Treobie “Ann” McCauley, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Tuesday, November 20 at home after a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by one son, Calvin McCauley. She is survived by a son, Gordon A. McCauley Jr. and wife, Susan; their two children, Chad Freeman and his wife, Latoya, and Gordon A. McCauley III “Trey”; a brother, Bernard Houchens and his wife, Norma; three sisters, Mary Williams, Ruth Houchens and Phyllis Lumpkin and her husband, Raymond. Other surviving grandchildren are Justin and Jessica McCauley; as well as great-grandchildren, Christopher, Lashelle and Rizelle; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ann was a very loving, caring and giving person, who never met a stranger. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family received friends Thursday November 22, 2007 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services were conducted Friday. Graveside services were held at Signal Hill Cemetery.
Robert Gleason “Poppy” Thurston Jr., age 56, of Mechanicsville, went to claim the promise of resurrection on Friday, November 16, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anita Via Thurston; a daughter, Staci Via (Bobby Wade); a granddaughter, Lauren Christine Smith (Allan); grandsons, D.J. and Mikey Montgomery; and his precious great-granddaughter, Autumn Lillian Smith. He is also survived by his aunt, Irene Wheat, who took care of him as a teenager; two brothers, Daniel and Donald; a cousin, David Wheat; and a special friend, Carl Tate, who attended to his needs in such a wonderful way for five years. He had many other family members and friends who had special meaning in his life. He will also be sorely missed by ZaZoo, his bird; and Goldie, his dog. The family received friends at Monaghan Funeral Home, 7300 Creighton Pkwy., Mechanicsville, Sunday, November 17, and where funeral services were also held on Monday, November 18. Graveside services were held at Gethsemane Church of Christ Cemetery. Robert was a carpenter by trade, but had been a quadriplegic for the past 30 years.
