William Harvie Bagby, 80, of Mechanicsville, passed away April 24, 2008.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Grace Bagby.  He is survived by three sons; William Craig Bagby and his wife Ann, Michael Martin Bagby and his wife Patricia, and Paul Ross Bagby and his wife Alicia; five grandchildren, Andrew Bagby, Stephanie Ballew, Kristen White, Emily Bagby and Ross Bagby; five great grandchildren, Collin, Molly, and Allison Ballew, Rylie and Avery White.  He was a member of Fairmount Christian Church and retired from Dupont.  The family received friends Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rt. 301 and Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville. Services were held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at the funeral home.  Graveside services were held at Signal Hill Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Haiti Outreach Ministries c/o Fairmount Christian Church.

Margaret Wells Bohn, 67, of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008. She retired from Travelers Insurance and was a member of Mechanicsville United Methodist Church and the Women’s Loyal Order of the Moose, Ashland Family Center. She is survived by her husband, Jay A. Bohn; a daughter and son-in-law, Irma and Jimmy Doss; son, Albert Bohn, all of Mechanicsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Debra Bohn of Spotsylvania; four grandchildren, Austen Bohn, Dylan Bohn, Crystal Doss and Mason Bohn; two great-grandchildren, Curtis and James; and two sisters, Clara Wallace and Lois Lane. The family received friends Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., where services were held Friday, April 24, 2008. Graveside services were held in Washington Memorial Park.

Margaret Milby Chenault, of Mechanicsville, died April 22, 2008. She was the widow of Freddie Chenault. Survivors are two sisters, Beatrice Hogge of Shacklefords, Va. and Myrtle Shockley of Mechanicsville; her brother, Herbert Milby of Richmond; several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Chenault was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and a former employee of the state of Virginia. The family received friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., on Thursday, April 24, 2008. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Graveside services were held in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Robert Franklin Shim (Franky) Hazelgrove, 14, of Mechanicsville, went Home peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2008.  Franky was a 9th grader at Lee Davis High School, where he proudly played in the Marching Band.  He was also a member of Boy Scout Troop 503 and attended Black Creek Baptist Church, where he came to know and love his Lord.  He is survived by his parents, Tochi and David Metcalf, Mark and Carol Hazelgrove; his sisters, Ashley Hazelgrove and Zoey Metcalf, brothers, Stephen Metcalf and Sam Gomez; his grandparents, Robert (Bud) and Shim Hazelgrove, Hien and Moui Tu and his great grandparents, Mr and Mrs Vinh Tu; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  His family received friends Friday, April 25, 2008 at Black Creek Baptist Church, 6289 McClellan Road, Mechanicsville, where a celebration of his life and home going was held Saturday, April 26, 2008 with graveside services following in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Franky’s name to the Lee Davis Band Boosters.  Condolences may be made at http://www.MeM.com.

Steven Gale Isom, 53, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008. Surviving are his son, Paul Jarratt Isom; mother, Lillie Luck; stepfather, Alton G. Luck; brother, Allen Isom; and many other family and friends. He was owner of Clean Air Services, Inc. of Ashland, and formerly owned Hanover Floorworks, Inc. Betty McLennan, age 74, of Ruther Glen, went to be with the Lord, April 9, 2008.  She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Charles McLennan, daughters, Wanda Hall and her husband Roger, Linda Barrentine and her husband Unray, three grandchildren, Travis Hall, Brandon & Brittany Barrentine, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  The family received friends Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rt. 301 and Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville.  Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 12, 2008.  Graveside services held at Signal Hill Memorial Park.

Sylvia D. Miller, 83, of Mechanicsville, (formerly of Baltimore, M.D.) entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2008.  She was born on February 7, 1925 in Orbisonia, Pa. to Frank and Sylvia Heidel.  She follows home her husband of 43 years Paul S. Miller, Jr.; daughter Donna L. Watson; sister Anna I. Murray; brother Frank T. Heidel.  She is survived by her loving and dedicated family, daughter Paula (Midge) D. Kish and husband Richard; granddaughter Rhonda L. Kelley and husband Brian; great granddaughters Jessica M. and Karrah N. Bauserman all of Mechanicsville.  She is also survived by one grandson Paul L. Watson.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.  The family received friends on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at the Atlee Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, Rt. 301 and Shady Grove Rd, Mechanicsville.  Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Sunday, April 27, 2008.  Graveside services were held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD, on Tuesday, April 29, 2008.

Linda Barton-Rodgers, Linda passed away suddenly and went to be with the Lord on October 23rd, 2007. She is preceded in death by her mother, Ann Barton.  She is survived by her daughters, Wendy M. Grigg, and Valerie Halferty and her husband Kirby, grandchildren Emily, Jack and Joshua, sister’s Barbara Gifford, Joan Barton, Kathryn Akers and brother, Earl Barton. Linda was a long time resident of Mechanicsville and served the Mechanicsville area for over 20 years as an Allstate Agent. Birdie Day Williams, 104, of Covenant Woods, Mechanicsville, died Sunday, April 20, 2008. She was born February 16, 1904 in Washington, N.C., the daughter of William J. Day and Terry Valance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lafayette Williams and was a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was recognized and will be remembered by many for her numerous hours of volunteer work in the Richmond area. Surviving are her son, Eugene Lafayette Williams Jr. and his wife, Winnie of Saluda, Va.; one grandson, Eric Faudree and his wife, Elizabeth, of Urbanna, Va.; one granddaughter, Renee Stokes and husband, Jerry, of Ark, Va.; four great-grandchildren. The family received friends Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Road. Sandra P. Vollenweider, 68, went to be with the Lord on April 20, 2008. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo A. Vollenweider. She is survived by her loving daughter, Theresa V. Sims; son-in-law, Darrell W. Sims; two grandsons; her mother, Evelyn D. Putt; and two brothers, Samuel J. Putt of Florida, and Allen D. Putt of California. She is also survived by many caring members of her late husband’s family. Sandra was a wonderful wife and mother. A kind and compassionate woman who always offered encouragement to others, she was proud of her two grandsons and cherished spending time with them. She was a retired federal employee with 34 years of service and attended Cool Spring Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors. She enjoyed horseback riding for many years and participated in water sports. She and her family loved going on trips to Nags Head, N.C., and also to her late husband’s hometown of New Orleans, La. Also, she liked doing volunteer work, especially at St. Joseph’s Villa, working with children and teaching them to read. She will be affectionately remembered and greatly missed.
