Nancy Williams Hauck, 65, of Mechanicsville, died Wednesday, April 18, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas E. Hauck Sr.; her son, Thomas E. (Ed) Hauck Jr. of Canton, Ohio; her daughter, Deborah A. Hauck; and her devoted grandson, Thomas E. Hauck III, both of Mechanicsville; her #2 daughter, Michele Stack Martin and family, of Aylett; and many very special friends in Canton, Ohio, including Robert Sullivan and Monica Jacobson. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Irma Williams; and a sister, Barbara Ann Williams. Nancy was a member of Northside Baptist Church. In accordance with her wishes, Nancy will be cremated, and there will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. A brief memorial service was held at Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. The family received friends following the service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Memorial Regional Medical Center and Bon Secours Hospice staff for their kind service and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Scottish Rite Childhood Language Center, 4402 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, 23228. Bliley Funeral Homes’ Staples Mill Chapel is assisting the family.

John William Lonergan, U.S. Navy (Ret.), 69, of Mechanicsville, died at home on Friday, April 13, 2007. He was born in New Haven, Conn., to the late James and Janet Lonergan. He was retired from Traveler’s Insurance. Preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Grace LaCroix Lonergan; and his brother, Jim Lonergan, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Angie Longergan; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Raymond Drewry; three grandchildren, Eleanor, Catherine and George Drewry, all of England; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Patricia Lonergan, and Stephen and Elaine Lonergan, all of Connecticut; brother-in-law, Russell and Betty LaCroix of Greenwich, N.Y.; and extended family. Also surviving are special friends, Gerry Sherwood, Ev Pennington, Bob Mullin, Dick Pitman, Paul Sweeney, and the rest of the golfing buddies; and many other family and friends. A Christian Wake service was held Wednesday, April 18, at the Church of the Redeemer, 8275 Meadowbridge Road, where the Mass of the Resurrection was held Thursday, April 19. Internment followed in the Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to Bon Secours Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Retired Lt. Col. Virgil C. Mansfield, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 in Ocala, Fla. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn D. Mansfield; three children and their spouses, Cynthia E. Mansfield, Raymond D. Mansfield and wife, Deborah L.; Pamela Mansfield Hogg and husband, Woody Hogg; five grandchildren, Kristopher E. Boykin, Bradley M. Boykin, Bryan A. Boykin, Leslie A. Mansfield, Graig R. Mansfield. Lt. Col. Mansfield was a member of Highland Springs United Methodist Church. he retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army and became a professor at VCU until 1976. He then retired to Ocala, Fla. in 2003. The family received friends Thursday and where funeral services were held Friday, with interment following in Washington Memorial Park.

Ira Edward “Eddie” Vencill, 66 of Bruington, Va., formerly of Mechanicsville, departed this life Monday, April 16, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Lena Vencill; and sister, Geraldine Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Anna “Jane” Vencill; son, James “Jimmy”; daughter, Tina McElveen and husband, Perry; two grandsons, Phillip and Jamie McElveen; also Michael and Matthew Norman, who were a part of his family since their births, and he thought of them as his own; brother, Cecil Vencill; three sisters, Patricia Dunn, Betty Stanley and Louise Luck; a host of nieces and nephews. He was co-owner of Lee-Davis Texaco and Old Church Tire & Service. He raised, sold and trained many bird dogs. He was a great hunter and had many special friends; two close friends, Otis Mariner and Walter Steward. The family received friends Wednesday and Thursday at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. and where services were held Friday. Interment Signal Hill Memorial Park.
