Owners join to protect signs

Vandalism, trespassing and theft are crimes. They are punishable by a fine and/or jail time.

As a private property owner with a big yellow message board sign on my own personal property, I am writing to put all of the criminal(s) on notice that you can and will be caught if you continue to trespass on private property in the middle of the night in order to deface signs and steal American and Gadsden Flags.

I have consulted with other private property sign owners and some of them have experienced the same type criminal activity.

We are now joining together to use a variety of overt and covert detection strategies in order to help apprehend these criminals.

One of the overt strategies is a $2,000 reward for the capture and conviction of any of the criminal(s) responsible for these crimes.

Details will be posted on many signs in the near future.

A police report has been filed for each and every incident and it is my understanding that the police will be ramping up their patrols of these crime scenes.

All of the owners I have spoken with intend to press charges and demand prosecution to the fullest extent of the law for any and all criminals that are apprehended.

Proselytizing unacceptable

Thank you, Steve Sneed, for your letters to this paper expressing your rational view of life. The theists are constantly bombarding the public with their beliefs. It is a breath of fresh air to hear from a person of reason as opposed to faith.

Everyone should be free to believe whatever they choose, as long as they don’t try to force it on others. It is the proselytizing that is unacceptable.  You have earned my respect for speaking out and bringing rationality and reason to the forefront.

Dear Editor

I loved Elmer Brown’s hilariously ironic tome in last week’s Local, “Owners join to protect signs.”  It is great to know that he and his TEA Party militia are planning to call on the resources of the county, including law enforcement and courts, to protect his silly yellow signs.

Our sheriffs and vital services are the result of the very taxes folks like Elmer claim to hate. I am not saying this is outright hypocrisy, or maybe I am, but it makes me chuckle thinking of these guys in masks and capes protecting their blight.  Go gettem’, fellas.
