Mechanicsville Troop 553 promotes brotherly love Tue. Apr 24, 2007
Contributed photo
Rob Bailey, General Manager/Residential Services, Woodfin Oil, greets Mechanicsville’s Boy Scout Troop 553 with a generous donation to launch the Troop’s spring fundraiser, “Brotherly Love.” The fundraiser is the sale of “ready to go & ready to give” barbeque dinners. The fundraiser’s theme, “Brotherly Love” was chosen by the scouts in honor of their oath “to help people.” The dinners will be packaged “to go & to give” so that purchasers can easily give dinners to others in “brotherly love.”
The fundraiser dinner features one pound of “My Daddy’s Barbeque,” accompanied by a side of beans, rolls and dessert packaged together in a bag. Each “ready to go & ready to give” dinner will sell for $15 and is designed as a meal for four people.
Woodfin Oil was the first local business with a monetary donation in the recent fundraising campaign. Mike Banton donates his expertise and time in cooking the barbeque. Scouts will be pre-selling the dinners during April and dinners will be delivered May 5 – 7.
Scouts are fundraising to offset costs of Scout Summer Camps. Scouts will be earning merit badges during summer camps. For further details or to make a donation, call Troop 553 volunteers, Keith at 640-0334, Patti at 804/357-7593 or Jesse at 730-9636.
