Atlee tops Patrick Henry to start 3-0 for first time

Hunter Brooks intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble and scored twice on defense to lead Atlee to a 46-7 victory over host Patrick Henry last night, giving the Raiders their first 3-0 start in school history. The victory also was Atlee’s first win against the Patriots (0-2) since 1993.

Brooks returned an interception 33 yards for a score in the third quarter then hit pay dirt on a 28-yard fumble return to give Atlee a 33-0 lead.

Raiders quarterback Dylan Gathright rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns and completed 13 of 23 passes for 128 yards and a score. Micah Spiers scored three times for Atlee. He rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown on three carries and two of his five catches went for scores.

Straus.

Atlee’s defense, led by Josh Doggett (11 tackles, six assists, sack), held the
Patriots to 119 yards and five first downs.

Jared Bennet threw for two touchdowns and ran for another, and the Tigers held off the Hawks.

Jared connected with brother Jacob Bennet for a 5-yard score, and with Monte Carr for a 7-ard TD. He finished with seven carries for 68 yards, and was 8 of 15 passing for 98 yards.

Jacob had 13 carries for 117 yards for J.R. Tucker (1-1), and made two receptions for 16 yards.

Sam Rogers paced Hanover (1-1), carrying 12 times for 61 yards and a TD. He also was 7 of 17 for 124 yards and a score. Deane Cheatham had 10 carries for 38 yards and ran for a 4-yard touchdown. Cheatham also caught a 38-yard TD pass from Rogers, finishing with four receptions on 90 yards.

Lee-Davis 41, Hopewell 28

Chance Stone’s second interception came with less than two minutes remaining in an explosive fourth quarter, helping the Confederates seal a victory over the Blue Devils.

Emmit Atkins carried 15 times for 178 yards and four TDs for Lee-Davis (1-1). He ran for scores of 13, 64, 4 and 28 yards. Phillip Gardner completed seven passes on 17 attempts for 199 yards and two TDs. He carried six times for 16 yards, and connected with Justin Becker (6 catches, 164 yards) on an 80-yard score and Brandon Angus for an 8-yard TD.

QB Jalen Reeves hit Michael Smith for an 8-yard score and Jules Wise for a 24-yard TD for Hopewell (0-2). He finished with 16 completions on 31 attempts for 318 yards, and carried 21 times for 110 yards and a 9-yard TD. Smith, who returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, made five catches for 117 yards and had 145 total return yards. Wise had four catches for 68 yards.

I was reading your top performers list,and seem to be missing some players. If you check with Highland Springs,I think you’ll find a few changes in your TOP performer lists. WR,Wyatt Johnson had 287yds receiving and 3TDs. QB,Jaquan Burchette had over 300yds passing and 3 TDs. I’m sure if you check with HSHS they will verify these numbers. The stats were not reported to the RTD.
