The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back on against Lee-Davis on senior night at Atlee, walking away with a 9-1 win. The victory locked up third place in the Capital District for Atlee while knocking Lee-Davis out of a tie with Hanover and giving the Hawks the regular season title.

Atlee junior lead-off batter Ryndee Ruch started things off with a bang by driving a pitch from the Confederates’ Kelsie Hudson to the wall in left for a double. A single by Jessica Hart was followed by a single from Amanda Warley that drove in Ruch. When the Raiders’ Samantha Kandravi dribbled that turned into a single allowing Hart to score, Lee-Davis coach Jackie Davis had seen enough, pulling Hudson in favor of Melanie Hazelwood. But the Atlee dam was open and the hits kept pouring through.

Like Kandravi, Atlee’s Jackie Jenkins also dribbled a shot and when the throw from Hazelwood went wide of first, both Warley and Kandravi scored to put the Raiders’ ahead 4-0 before the first out was carded.

Later with bases loaded, Atlee’s Lauren Saller was walked forcing home Randi Farrar to make the score 6-0 at the end of the first.

Atlee added three more runs in the fourth to go ahead 9-0 and cruise to the win.

With the victory, Atlee will now have a rematch with Lee-Davis in the opening game of the Capital District Tournament next Wednesday, May 21. The game should play out to be one of the best of the year with both teams ranked among the best. However, because only two teams can advance to regionals from each district, the winner of the game will move on to regional play while the season will end for the loser.
