Franchitti takes pole in Richmond

For the second time in two appearences at RIR, Dario Franchitti took the pole. In 2007, Franchitti took the pole then went on to win the race.

Target Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon claimed the front row after qualifications in Richmond. Franchitti won the pole for the second time in two appearences at RIR with a speed of 167.315 while Dixon ran a qualifacation time of 166.638.
Franchitti last drove at RIR in 2007 when he also won the pole and went on to win the race.
Teammates will also occupy the second row with Team Penske’s Helio Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe taking the three and four slots.
Each of the top four drivers has won in Richmond.
