Capital District cancels makeups
Basketball schedules have taken such a beating from the weather that Capital District activities directors threw in the towel yesterday and determined the regular season will end tonight as scheduled.
Makeup games scheduled for last night and tomorrow were canceled.
The Hanover schools in the district—Atlee, Hanover and Lee-Davis—have not been able to practice because of school system policy.
When schools are closed because of weather, all activities are canceled.
The Hanover boys basketball team has practiced once since Jan. 28. The Atlee girls haven’t played since Jan. 28, and that was a game moved up a day to avoid snow. The Lee-Davis boys played Feb. 4 but haven’t practiced since Jan. 28.
Hanover boys and girls had makeup games with Highland Springs scheduled for tomorrow. With yesterday’s decision, the Hanover boys’ regular season is over.
The girls played their last regular-season game last night.
Nondistrict games got the OK for rescheduling. That means Highland Springs, which had to give up nondistrict games with Meadowbrook and Petersburg because of weather, has rescheduled its game with Benedictine for Monday night at
7:30 at Highland Springs.
The Capital District tournaments begin Tuesday.
