Michael Mansfield struck out eight in a two-hitter, and fourth-seeded Henrico surprised top-seeded Lee-Davis 8-3 in the semifinals.
Mansfield also went 3 for 4 at the plate, connecting on a two-run homer to spark a five-run first inning. Landon Prentiss and Nick Toombs (three RBI) each went 2 for 3 for the Warriors.
The Confederates’ Jordan Boze was 1 for 3 with a two-run home run in the fourth, and Michael Thomas was 1 for 3 with a double.
Because of a late start and slow play the second game of the tournament ran late into the evening and outcome is currently unavailable.
The first pitch between Atlee and Hanover was not being thrown until after 8:30 p.m. and the top of the first inning did not end until after 9 p.m. with Hanover leading 4-0.
The score was the same at 10 p.m. as the two teams were entering the top of the fifth inning.

Erin Scarborough drove in the game-tying run in the bottom of the ninth and Lindsay Smith followed with the game-winning RBI double to lift second-seeded Hanover over No. 3 Atlee 4-3 in the semifinals.
Erica Barrett, who connected on a two-out two-run homer in the sixth to tie the game in regulation, doubled with one-out in the ninth and scored the tying run. That’s when Smith came through for the victory.
Atlee’s Jessica Holte had six strikeouts in a complete game effort.
In another game, Kelly Heinz threw a no-hitter, striking out 19 as top-seeded Lee-Davis cruised past No. 4 Varina 8-0.
Meredith Holmes and Amanda Parker each went 3 for 4 for the Confederates.

Kaitlyn Cheek doubled in Tori Higginbotham with two outs in the 10th inning and
J.R. Tucker surprised top seed Patrick Henry 2-1 in the semifinals.
Higginbotham finished with three hits and a double for the fourth-seeded Tigers.
Kaci Clary’s double scored Monica Hilario to give J.R. Tucker the lead. Madison Gilman, who had four hits, tied the game with a homer in the sixth.
In another semifinal, Taylor Francisco struck out 11 and allowed no runs and five hits as No. 2 seed Hermitage defeated No. 6 Douglas Freeman 4-0.
Francisco has thrown 41 straight shutout innings. In her past five games, she has four shutouts and has allowed only two runs.

Dominique Smith scored in the fifth round of the shootout and C.J. Stevens saved the final penalty and top seed Lee-Davis turned back fourth seed Henrico’s upset bid in the semifinals.
Caleb Lewis’ opener was canceled out by a second-half strike from Mohamed Adam.
Mark Davis made 16 saves for the Warriors to help take the match to a shootout.
Lewis and J.P. Hudnall converted their penalty kick attempts for the Confederates.
Phulfiquar Hussein and Ricky Segers were successful in the shootout for Henrico.
In another game, Hunter Boroughs and Jordan Boothe scored and Mike McCabe had five saves to help lead second-seeded Atlee over No. 3 Hanover 2-0.

Mia Warlick scored three goals and Ashley Riefneradded two as top-seeded Atlee took down No. 4 seed Henrico 7-1 in the semifinals.
Tina Street put the Warriors on the board in the first half, and Kabemba Kapanga stopped 12 shots.
In another game, Liz Donnini had two goals, including the game winner, as No. 3 Lee-Davis beat No. 2 Hanover 4-3 in overtime. Nicole Shelton had 10 saves for Hanover.

Christina Corbin’s hat trick helped top seed Deep Run squeeze past fifth seed Patrick Henry 4-3. Brittany Entz also scored for the Wildcats.
Rachel Hoar scored twice for the Patriots and Ginny Gills also found the back of the net.
In another semifinal, after neither team scored in two five-minute regular overtimes and two golden goal overtimes, Mills Godwin defeated Douglas Freeman 4-3 on penalty kicks. Mills Godwin’s Marie Krider scored in stoppage time to tie the game 1-1.
Godwin keeper Jessie Ashworth saved two penalty kicks for the Eagles.
