From press release
Richmond International Raceway is offering Pace Car rides around America’s Premier Short Track on Friday, May 21 (2:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.) to guests who donate $5 for a collectible NASCAR Day lapel pin. NASCAR Day, annually celebrated on the third Friday in May, is a charitable celebration of the NASCAR spirit that enables fans and partners to join together to make a difference in the lives of children.
Guests may enter the Richmond International Raceway property at the Service Gate, located on Meadowbridge Rd (Richmond-Henrico Tnpk.). NASCAR Day pins will be sold and Pace Car rides will commence from pit road. Each guest who donates $5 for a NASCAR Day pin at the track will receive a Pace Car ride; only one ride per $5 donation. Those who already have NASCAR Day 2010 pins may receive a Pace Car ride by presenting their pin during this event.
Donations through Richmond International Raceway will benefit The NASCAR Foundation and Henrico County Police Athletic League. Proceeds will be split between the two non-profit organizations.
Additionally, Friday, May 21 will be an exclusive opportunity for fans to purchase tickets for the September 11 “One Last Race to Make The Chase” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond International Raceway. Tickets officially go on sale Tuesday, May 25, but those who donate $5 for a NASCAR Day pin will get first crack at purchasing tickets for the best remaining seats in the house before the public on-sale date.
NASCAR returns to Richmond International Raceway September 10-11 for another doubleheader weekend. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers will battle it out around America’s Premier Short Track on Saturday, September 11 at “One Last Race to Make The Chase.” Once the checkered flag drops, only the top 12 drivers in the point standings will be eligible for the series championship. Tickets start at $40 and can be purchased by logging on to http://www.rir.com or calling 866-455-RACE (7223).
The weekend begins on Friday, September 10, with a full day of on-track activity, including the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race “under the lights.” Friday’s ticket includes Fas Mart Pole Qualifying and practice for the Sprint Cup Series, as well as WRIC-TV8 Pole Qualifying and practice for the Nationwide Series.
