C-feds secure title with 7th inning comeback

  As Lee-Davis softball standout Kelly Heinz puts it, “This season’s a different season all around for me so why not do something new.”

  Something new is Heinz batting in the leadoff spot for the Confederates. Moving her up from the middle of the order proved to be crucial to Lee-Davis’s come-from-behind victory over Atlee Friday night.

Atlee completes Capital sweep in district championships

  Atlee used a complete team effort to claim both the boys and girls Capital District Outdoor Track & Field championships last week at Glen Allen High School.

  While the Raider boys notched their fourth straight championship it was a return to glory for the Atlee girls, unseating Lee-Davis which has dominated the sport for the past six years.

Lady Patriots repeat in Colonial Outdoor champions

  The Patrick Henry girls and Douglas Freeman boys both repeated at Colonial District outdoor track champions last week at Glen Allen High School.

  The Lady Patriots took the championship in commanding fashion 184-113 over Mills Godwin. Freeman was third followed by Deep Run, Maggie Walker, Hermitage, J.R. Tucker, John Marshall and Thomas Jefferson.

No drama as Confederates cruise by Raiders

  No season defining drama was likely to be had when Atlee traveled to Lee-Davis for a Capital District baseball game Friday. The district tournament for both teams was already assured. Regardless of the outcome, the Confederates and Raiders had secured the two and three seeds and were destined to play one another again in this week’s tournament semifinals.

Raiders rolling as lacrosse team enters GRLL

  Last Tuesday, the Atlee girl’s lacrosse team wrapped up a milestone regular season by defeating Patrick Henry 13-4. The victory gave the Raiders a 13-1 record and secured the #1 seed in this week’s Greater Richmond Lacrosse League region playoffs, which began May 22.
