Atlee tops Patrick Henry to start 3-0 for first time

Hunter Brooks intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble and scored twice on defense to lead Atlee to a 46-7 victory over host Patrick Henry last night, giving the Raiders their first 3-0 start in school history. The victory also was Atlee’s first win against the Patriots (0-2) since 1993.

Brooks returned an interception 33 yards for a score in the third quarter then hit pay dirt on a 28-yard fumble return to give Atlee a 33-0 lead.

Johns Hopkins slips by Randolph-Macon football 35-31
From press release

BALTIMORE, MD – Andrew Kase’s one yard touchdown run with 49 seconds left to go in the game, propelled Johns Hopkins to a 35-31 victory over Randolph-Macon on Saturday afternoon.

The loss spoiled a record setting day for R-MC receiver Earl Peoples who set a school record with 216 yards on seven catches. People’s day also marked the 10th best singe game performance in ODAC history.

A few bright orange Manchester High School signs waved high in the air as hometown racer, Denny Hamlin, lifted a huge monkey off his back in Saturday night’s Chevy Rock and Roll 400. Once again Hamlin led the most laps but he finally topped the leading off with a win.

Hamlin had led over 600 laps at Richmond International Raceway, but bad luck had always been on his side until Saturday night. He led a total of 299 laps before racing to the flag stand to grab the coveted checkered. First he had to go through Jeff Gordon though.

As Brian Vickers raced in a nip-and-tuck points battle with Kyle Bush to make the chase he was looking for help from anywhere. At one point Vickers made the call to his spotter Chris Lambert telling him; “Any friends you can make aware of our situation, I would appreciate it.” But who were the friends that Vickers was looking for?

Rejects ready to Rock & Roll Richmond

When the All American Rejects entered the Richmond International Raceway Media Center, they proved that they could entertain without signing a single note.
