A dislocated shoulder prematurely ended Sam Hunt’s football career last fall, but the James River High School senior is feeling no ill effects from the injury as he navigates his rookie season as a stock-car racer in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.
Hunt joined fellow 18-year-old driver C.J. Faison at Richmond International Raceway last Thursday, where they shared their stories and addressed a variety of racing-related topics with a large group of students from Henrico County Public Schools automotive classes.
Twelve NASCAR stars, past and present, will run the Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown, a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model division race at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday, April 26. Joining the best local Late Model Stock Car drivers for the race are:

At age 36, Emporia native Elliott Sadler is still relatively young but he has seen a lifetime of experiences in racing. As with any enduring professional athlete, the 17-year NASCAR veteran has seen both highs and lows throughout his career but 2012 has given every indication it could be Sadler’s best.

Last Wednesday the Children’s Museum of Richmond and Richmond International Raceway joined forces in an effort to pay tribute to the history of NASCAR racing in Virginia while at the same time building the future of the sport.
With the help of Emporia native Elliott Sadler, RIR and CMoR announced their plans to create an 800-square-foot exhibit that will be put on display at the Children’s Museum to educate and develop interest in NASCAR among its youngest fans.
