Pole Green students win honors at competition
A team of fifth grade students at Pole Green Elementary School recently won highest honors, placing 11th in the nation in the year-end cumulative standings among 715 school teams, at the Blue Division of the WordMasters Challenge. The WordMasters Challenge is a national language arts competition and exercise in critical thinking skills. Mrs. Jennifer Post, the Gifted and Talented Teacher for Pole Green, supervises the WordMasters program.
In addition to the school’s 11th in the nation placement, there were individual students who also earned individual highest honors. Fourth grader, Jacob Sanford, and fifth graders, Breland Edwards, Amber Reynolds and Tyler Woodruff were recognized for highest honors for individual achievement. Others who received recognition for outstanding achievement included fourth graders Steven Hall and Spencer Dunn, and fifth graders Jessica Blazquez, Bridget Calderwood, Sean Dolan, Tristan Jeppesen, Ellen Orie, Carlin Wetzel, Grace Allen, Ryan Anderson, Krezhia Cabaluna, Liliah Hosay, Darren Kalten, and Sedrek Kovar.
