Lee-Davis graduate Adam Bitely has been elected to be the next State Chairman of the College Republican Federation of Virginia (CRFV).
The election was held on December 1 at the Republican Part of Virginia Advance in Crystal City, Va., and Bitely was elected by a unanimous vote. The State Chairman is elected for a one year term.
“My election presents me with a lot of opportunities to help build the organization …but it puts a lot of pressure to perform” as well said the sophomore from Hanover.
The pressure shouldn’t be anything new for Bitely, a 2006 graduate of Lee-Davis High School. Adam has been involved with the Republican Party since he was Chairman of the Lee-Davis young republicans club.
On how he got started, Bitely had this to say, “I started by volunteering in the afternoons in high school, it just grew from there.”
“Adam’s recent election is a testament to the Hanover school system where the goal is not only educating, but instilling civic pride in our students,” said Del. Christopher K. Peace. “As a fellow Hanoverian, I am proud to have such a wonderful young man representing our county.”
In his race for State Chairman, Bitely was endorsed by Gov.Jim Gilmore, Congressman Eric Cantor, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and Attorney General Bob McDonnell.
“I look forward to leading the College Republicans in 2008 during the Presidential Election cycle. It is a great honor to be elected to this position and I look forward to leading CRFV forward in 2008” said Bitely.
The CRFV has chapters on most of the college campuses across the Commonwealth. Throughout 2007, the CRFV played a role in many of the competitive State Senate and House of Delegate races. The 2008 election cycle will present a large task for CRFV.
When asked what a typical member of the CRFV would do to help get the word out for the elections Bitely said “We get a lot of people out in the field, most actually work off campus to spread the word.”
Bitely has worked on several campaigns including the successful 2005 Bill Bolling campaign for Lieutenant Governor. He currently attends George Mason University in Fairfax, Va, where he is a sophomore majoring in government.
Bitely most recently served as Second Vice Chairman of the CRFV until his election to State Chairman earlier this month and plans to stay involved in politics after he graduates from college.
